According to Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper (December 20, 2001), the Compaq Computers Company recently reported that it held the largest computer sales volume in the Middle East region in 2001. Compaq is also the third most successful server vendor in the region in 2001, capturing 50 percent of the server sales in the UAE, 48 percent in Saudi Arabia and 20 percent in Egypt.
