ARGENTINA: ARGENTINA BEGINS TALKS WITH IMF.(wants to regain credit and credibility)(Brief Article)

Argentina has begun two days of important negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). These talks started yesterday in Washington. Argentina aims to regain credit and credibility with the IMF. The IMF withdrew its financial assistance to Argentina in December 2001. Jorge Remes Lenicov, the Argentine Economy Minister, met with Horst Koehler, the managing director of the IMF, and with Paul O'Neill, the US Treasury Secretary.
Eduardo Amadeo, the presidential spokesman, stated "We have come to renew talks with the IMF and with the Treasury Department.
