INDIA: BPL OFFERS SANYO 50% OF ITS HOME APPLIANCE BUSINESS.(Brief Article)

The BPL Group, a leading consumer electronics company, has offered a 50% stake in its home appliance business to the Sanyo Group, the Japanese consumer electronics company. BPL Group's two home appliance companies are BS Refrigerators and BS Appliances, which manufactures washing machines, microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners and cooking ranges, according to The Economic Times.
BPL Ltd, BPL Group's flagship, at present holds around 17% in BS Refrigerators and approximately 0.5% in BS Appliances. BPL's home appliance business is currently being valued by Arthur Andersen. Sanyo specializes in consumer and commercial electronics.
