CHINA: CHINA UNICOM EXPECTS REVENUES TO RISE BY 39% IN 2002.(Brief Article)

Wang Jianzhou, the president of the China Unicom Group, expects revenues from its main operations in 2002 to grow by 38.8% to 52 billion yuan (US$6.28 billion). In 2001, China Unicom's revenues from its main businesses amounted to 37.4 billion yuan (US$4.12 billion). China Unicom's main operations include mobile, long distance, data communications, Internet access, paging and local phone services, according to Total Telecom.
The China Unicom Group is the parent company of Hong Kong-listed China Unicom Ltd, the second largest mobile operator in China. The China Unicom Group is a state run company which owns 77% of China Unicom.
