CHINA: JAPAN'S SUMITOMO ELECTRIC BUILDS OPTICAL FIBER CABLE PLANT IN CHINA.(Brief Article)

Japan's Sumitomo Electric has began building an optical fiber cable plant in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China in January. The Company said the plant will commence production of optical cables in September, and optical fibers early in 2003, by which time it is expected to generate sales of 10 billion yen ($75.2 mil).
The operations are conducted through the Company's Chinese subsidiary, Sumitomo Electric Optical Fiber and Cable (Shenzhen). The wholly owned subsidiary was formed in July 2001, and capitalized at $62.7 million. -(Worlditreport.com)
