Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Assefi said on 30 April that earlier comments by Condoleezza Rice, U.S. President George W. Bush's national security adviser, were "ill considered," according to IRNA. He said that Iran is against weapons of mass destruction, its foreign policy is based on "the axis of stabilization of peace and security," and its policies are transparent.

He also demanded that the U.S. provide a definition of terrorism that is free of bias.
