LIBYA: ALCATEL TO EXTENDED LIBYA'S MOBILE COVERAGE.(Brief Article)

French telecom infrastructure provider Alcatel has signed a deal with General Posts and Telecommunications Company (GPTC) to provide Libya with greater mobile phone network coverage. However, Alcatel has not disclosed the value of the deal. Alctel will be bringing network coverage to Sirte, an area southeast of Tripoli, the capital of Libya.

According to GPTC the new service will employ Libyans in order to train them in telecomms technology and increase their knowledge of computers. Alcatel and Ericsson, using GPTC's El Madar Telephone Company launched the first mobile phone service in the Libyan capital in 1997. - (World IT Report.com)
