The KSA Today newspaper quoted a senior source in the United Oil Pipeline Company, who told the paper in late June 2002 that the Company is considering the possibility of passing an oil pipeline to ports in Yemen. The Yemen government announced in late June 2002 that it was holding negotiations with the above Company to lay a pipeline to transfer oil and natural gas from Saudi Arabia through the desert in Yemen to a port on the coast of the Arabian Sea.
