A Saudi man charged in Sudan with trying to hijack a plane en route to Jeddah is mentally sound, Sudanese Interior Minister Major General Abdel Rahim Mohamed Hussein was quoted as saying Thursday. "The hijacker is of a sound mind and enjoys full mental faculties," Hussein was quoted as saying by the independent Al Sahafa daily, contradicting a police statement Wednesday that Adel Nasser Ahmed Faraj appeared to be mentally "unstable", AFP reported.

The paper said that Faraj had undergone a medical examination, which showed that he had "full mental faculties."
