Sybase announced that it was selected as the "Most Successful Database Software Company in China for 2002" by the China Center for Information Industry Development Consulting Co. Ltd. (CCID Consulting) at the 2003 China IT Market Annual Conference. Additionally, CCID Consulting's "Annual Software Market Report 2002-2003" confirmed that Sybase is the second largest database company in China, it was reported on Thursday.

According to CCID Consulting, in the China database market for 2002, IBM dropped from second place in 2001 to third. Sybase's database marketshare last year grew from third to second reflecting its outstanding performance in the telecommunications and utility sectors, successfully expanding into western China, and winning key competitive accounts.
