RUSSIA: YUKOS SHAREHOLDER QUITS SENATE SEAT.(Vasity Shakhnovsky)(YUKOS Oil Co.)(Brief Article)

According to Ekho Moskvy, Vasity Shakhnovsky, a major shareholder with YUKOS and the former head of the YUKOS-Moscow firm, sent a letter to the legislative assembly of Evenki, asking to cancel his duty as the regionAEs representative in the Federation Council u the upper chamber of parliament of the Russian Federation.
Shakhnovsky was elected senator after his predecessor Nikolai Anisimov quit from the post in mid term. The Krasnoyarsk Regional Court recently ruled that AnisimovAEs removal from the post and the election of Shakhnovsky were both illegal. It seems as if Shakhnovsky has decided to quit voluntarily. Shakhnovsky had been previously charged with gross tax evasion.
