JORDAN: JORDAN, EU SIGN 110 MLN-EURO GRANT AGREEMENT - OUTLOOK.

According to "Jordan Times", Jordan and the European Union (EU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which the European Commission will provide the Kingdom with a 110-million-euro grant for the 2005-2006 periods. The MoU was signed at a ceremony on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum at the Dead Sea.

Planning and International Cooperation Minister Bassem Awadallah signed on behalf of the government, while the head of the European Commission Delegation to Jordan, Ambassador Robert van der Meulen, signed on behalf of the European Commission. Awadallah said the grant was provided under the MEDA program, which is the financial instrument of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, or Barcelona Process, launched nine years ago.
