BRAZIL: LUCENT AND VIVO LAUNCH MOBILE DATA NETWORK TRIAL IN BRAZIL.

Networking technologies provider Lucent Technologies has said that it will launch a super-fast mobile data network trial in Brazil together with mobile service operator VIVO. Lucent will supply a third-generation (3G) CDMA2000 1xEV-DO trial network that will be used by VIVO to provide selected business customers with secure mobile access to corporate applications such as e-mail and intranets at data speeds of up to 2.4 megabits per second.
This is more than 40 times faster than wireline dial-up connections, according to the company. The trial will be conducted in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. - (EMEconomy.com)
