USA: TREADWELL AWARDED CONTRACT FOR NEW AUXILIARY CUBICLES AND MICROPROCESSOR CONTROLLER COMPONENTS.

According to the DoD., Treadwell Corp., Thomaston, Conn., is being awarded a $13,798,785 firm fixed price contract, to provide new auxiliary cubicles and microprocessor controller components for SSN-688/SSBN-726 Class, Model 6L16 Electrolytic Oxygen Generators (EOG). The EOG produces oxygen through electrolysis, which is the chemical breakup of distilled water caused by passage of electric current through an electrolyte solution in sixteen high-pressure cells, connected in series. The EOG is the primary oxygen producer aboard SSN 688/SSBN-726 class submarines. Work will be performed in Thomaston, Conn., and is expected to be completed by November 2006. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The contract was not competitively procured....
