ALGERIA: OPERATIONS OF ORASCOM TELECOM CONCERN IN COUNTRY.(Brief Article)

Dar al-Hayat newspaper quoted General Manager of the Orascom Telecom Concern Najib Sawayris who said at a conference held in Algeria in early July 2004 that the Concern intends to widen its operations in Algeria. These remarks were made at the ceremony to honor the operations of the Concern branch in Algeria.
The Orascom Concern manages Djezzy, the second cell phone communications network in Algeria, which has two million subscribers, in comparison to the 300,000 subscribers to the government network. Djezzy started operations in August 2001.
