USA: LOCKHEED MARTIN AWARDED CONTRACT FOR SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT.(Brief Article)

According to the DoD., Lockheed Martin Systems Integration, Owego, N.Y., is being awarded a cost-plus-award-fee contract with a total estimated value of $1,788,697,873 for the system development and demonstration of the Presidential helicopter replacement (VXX). The SDD phase will consist of engineering design and integration activities for the various communications, navigation, and mission systems required for the Presidential Helicopter support mission.
It also includes a comprehensive test and evaluation program, as well as production of the five aircraft that will introduce the initial operational capability in fiscal year 2009.
