MOROCCO: RENAULTS STARTS "LOGAN" MANUFACTURING IN MOROCCO.(Regie Nationale des Usines Renault)(Brief Article)

According to Al-Hayat newspaper (April 20, 2005), the French automobile major Renaults started to produce its popular brand "Logan" in Morocco. Renault plans to invest ?22 million to make Logan at the SOMACA plant in Morocco from the second half of 2005. Production of 30,000 vehicles a year is envisaged, with some going for export.
Since late 2003, Renault has been deploying a general progress plan at SOMACA. The goal is to optimize manufacturing facilities and process, introduce the Renault Production Way, control production costs and upgrade employees' skills. Renault is using its expertise to introduce European quality standards, and is also supporting the upgrading of the Moroccan parts supplier network in terms of quality, costs and delivery times.
