TURKEY: US WELCOMES EU DECISION TO BEGIN ACCESSION TALKS WITH TURKEY.

According to Turkiye, the US State Department said that Turkey's beginning European Union accession talks would contribute Turkey's peace, prosperity and democracy. Edgar Vazquez, a State Department spokesman, told reporters that his country was closely following developments in the EU and lending support to Turkey's EU membership bid.
