YEMEN: YEMEN IS NOT YET READY FOR A SECURITIES BOURSE.
IPR Strategic Business Information Database, October, 2005
Al-Khaleej newspaper quoted authorized sources who said in late May 2005 that Yemen is not yet ready to open a Securities Bourse. The paper quoted Chairman of the Committee which prepared the plan to create a securities bourse, Ahmad Ghalib, who said that the plan to create a bourse exists, but it cannot be implemented at this time because of various problems.
The World Bank previously aided this project, but differences of opinion among the various government ministries caused delays in implementing the project and the cessation of World Bank aid.
