UAE: TOURISM IN SHARJAH IN 2005.

A-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper quoted Director of the Sharjah Civil Aviation Authority who said in late January 2006 that the number of tourists who passed through the Sharjah International Airport during the first nine months of 2005 came to 1.63 million passengers, a 31% increase compared to the same period in 2004.
Hotel income during this period was up 25% over the same period in 2004. He announced the creation of a company to develop the Star Island Tourism Project in cooperation with investors from Gulf states at an investment of DH 18 billion.
