RUSSIA: GAS GIANT CONFIRMS PLANS FOR GLOBAL EXPANSION DURING SPECIAL EDITION OF HARDTALK.

In BBC World's HARDtalk to air on Monday (May 1), the deputy CEO of Russian gas giant Gazprom outlines his company's massive expansion ambitions including the company's bid for UK gas utility Centrica. Speaking to the HARDtalk programme, filmed in front of a packed audience of more than 200 delegates at the Russian Economic Forum in London, Alexander Medvedev describes Centrica as a 'potential acquisition target' but dismisses reports that Gazprom, which provides a quarter of Europe's gas, is in talks with Centrica management.
When asked by presenter Stephen Sackur how many other companies are on Gazprom's watch list as potential acquisition targets, Mr Medvedev replies that he does not have enough fingers to count. To the laughter of the audience, he says. "It's...
