HONG KONG: AWARD SCHEME BOOSTS PRISONERS' READING HABITS.

According to news.gov.hk: total of 65 prisoners in Shek Pik Prison have joined a six-month reading award scheme to bolster their education and intellectual exposure. The scheme will be launched in Tai Lam Centre for Women at the end of September. The scheme was introduced to Shek Pik Prison in last October, aiming to cultivate and promote reading culture among offenders.

It was co-organised by the Correctional Services Department, City University Staff Association, Professional Teachers' Union, and Agency for Volunteer Services. In the six-month scheme, the 65 prisoners in Shek Pik Prison submitted 131 reading reports. One participant sent in 14 reports.
