ARGENTINA: THREATS TO THE CD'S BUSINESS.
IPR Strategic Business Information Database, June, 2009
According to La Nacion, the recent closure of Union's Square Virgin Megastore in the heart of New York, became a death certificate for the business of Cd's in the United States, which ended laying down her arms against the advancing digital music format industry (MP3). In Argentina, the picture is not different: fewer than 800 cd's music stores are open today against more than 3,000 that were twenty years ago.
In this country the main threat doesn't comes from the MP3's, it comes from the pirate CD industry.
