DIC adds Bayer pigments.(Dainippon Ink and Chemicals Inc. is to acquire Bayer Corp.'s organic pigments business in the US)(Brief Article)

TOKYO -- Dainippon Ink and Chemicals Inc. is to acquire Bayer Corp.'s organic pigments business in the US. The acquisition, made through its US subsidiary, Sun Chemical Corp., is due for completion on 1 April, subject to approvals, Tokyo-based DIC said 20 Feb.

With the deal, the Japanese firm said it aims to provide a stronger challenge to European competitors such as Ciba Specialty, BASF AG and Clariant AG in supplying pigments for automotive and industrial applications. DIC already claims a strong global position in the supply of commodity organic pigments.
