With this issue I am unabashedly asking for your endorsement and support of my quest to become president of the American Library Association, the largest and oldest library association in the world, with 61,000 members.

As an active and committed ALA member since 1974, I was president of the American Association of School Librarians when Information Power was released in 1998 and subsequently chaired the national implementation committee. I have been active in association-wide committees and am an elected member of ALA Council and the Executive Board.
