HOERBIGER CORP. OF AMERICA INC., POMPANO BEACH, FLA. The new balanced overlapping tangent, or BOT, pressure-balanced ring pair for reciprocating compressors provides an even pressure distribution throughout the packing. The ring pair increases the life of the rings and of the entire pressure packing, thereby minimizing unscheduled plant shutdowns for repairs. Each ring pair is a combination of radial and tangential cut rings. The radial cut ring supports and reduces the pressure load on the tangential cut ring. This results in reduced frictional load, lower temperatures at the piston rod, and an even pressure reduction across all the ring pairs in the packing.
