Ajinomoto Co., Inc. (Tokyo, Japan) has patented a gene encoding a protein constituting sucrose PTS of coryneform bacterium provided by amplifying a region existing downstream from sucrase gene in coryneform bacterium by the cassette-ligation mediated PCR to obtain DNA encoding sucrose PTS enzyme II, which is a protein defined in the following (A) or (B):

(A) a protein which has the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2 in Sequence Listing;

(B) a protein which has the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2 in Sequence Listing including substitution, deletion, insertion, addition or inversion of one or several amino acids, and an activity for binding to sucrose. (US 6,893,852)
