Catholic Healthcare West inks deal with UHS to acquire former Vista Health hospitals.(Strategic Notes)(Universal Health Services)(Brief Article)

Catholic Healthcare West, San Francisco, plans to purchase two hospitals from Universal Health Services, King of Prussia, Pa., for $32.5 million.

Effective May 31, CHW will acquire from UHS French Hospital Medical Center, San Luis Obispo, Calif., 135 beds; Arroyo Grande Community Hospital, Arroyo Grande, Calif., 79 beds.

The hospitals were part of an acquisition UHS made Jan. 1 when it took over Vista Health System, Corona, Calif. UHS will keep the other Vista property, Corona Regional Medical Center, Corona, Calif., 228 beds; and another recent acquisition: a 90% interest in Pendleton Methodist Hospital, East New Orleans, La., 306 beds.
