Sutter improves ICU outcomes with aid of new remote monitoring software from Visicu Inc.(STATISTICAL NOTES)

Sutter Health, Sacramento, Calif., installed early-warning software in its ICUs in an effort to decrease mortality and improve outcomes.

Monitoring centers like Sutter's have been shown to reduce severity-adjusted hospital mortality for ICU patients by 27% and shorten ICU length of stay by 17%.

In mid-November 2004, Sutter became the first integrated delivery network in the Western U.S. to install the eICU system by Visicu Inc., Baltimore.

The eICU was placed in the Davies campus of California Pacific Medical Center, 1,067 beds, and St. Luke's Hospital, 260 beds, both in San Francisco.
