New York City Department of Transportation recently selected Capt. James C. DeSimone as the new Chief Operations Officer for the Staten Island Ferry. DeSimone was selected from more than 120 applicants for the new COO position. Captain DeSimone is currently vice president of operations for the Brooklyn-based New York Water Taxi and over-sees all aspects of the marine operations for that company.
The new position was created as a result of recommendations from a city-commissioned GMATS report issued earlier this year.
