Gladding-Hearn expands capability.(Update)

This month, Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding, Duclos Corp., Somerset, Mass., will increase its metal fabrication capabilities with the addition of a new 12,000 [ft.sup.2] fabrication building. Measuring 107 ft x 110 ft with a clear height of 40 ft, the new building has two 50 ft bays for the construction of modules or complete vessels, weighing as much as 100 tons. Each bay will be equipped with a 5-ton crane overhead for easy movement of modules, materials and equipment through a 50-foot-wide sliding door.

The additional fabrication capability has the potential to create about 50 new jobs, said company officials. Current employment is 100.
