"Healthcare IT News" launched by Medtec Publishing

Medtec Publiching Co. (New Gloucester, ME), in association with the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS; Chicago, IL), has begun the publication of Healthcare IT News, a new monthly journal. It has a controlled circulation of 43,000.

Medtec said the title is targeted to healthcare IT/IS management, senior and clinical management at hospitals and integrated delivery networks, large group medical practices and ambulatory care facilities, health plans and health payers. Distribution also includes all of HIMSS' 15,000 members. Taglined "the news source for healthcare information technology," the magazine is designed to offer "essential information and market data healthcare managers and IT professionals require to make their best decisions," HIMSS said.

Editorial includes coverage of all major industry segments, including hospitals and IDNs, physician practices and ambulatory care, payers and vendors. It carries information on such topics as recent technology investments, clinical solutions and IT trends, compliance and regulation issues affecting in-patient facilities, governmental and reimbursement issues, predictive modeling, innovations by manufacturers and resellers of healthcare IT products and services, management solutions and IT implementation strategies.

Each issue also includes HIMSS Insider, an insert that reports on efforts to promote best practices as well as HIMSS advocacy, educational and professional development issues.
