"T.H.E. Journal" acquired by 101comunications

101communications (Chatsworth, CA), the producer often magazines and more than 30 conferences for various segments of the information technology market, has acquired "T.H.E. Journal" and related assets from ETC Group (Tustin, CA), the holding company that produces the journal. No terms of the deal were given.

"T.H.E. Journal," founded in 1972 as "Technological Horizons in Education," is dedicated to covering the application of technology to the instructional and administrative learning environment. Published monthly, it has a controlled circulation of 160,000 eduation professionals, including 90,000 superintendents, principals, technology coordinators and media specialists at the K-12 level, and 60,000 presidents, deans, department chairs and faculty at colleges and universities. Feature editorial includes coverage of such topics as project-based learning, using technology in core content areas, the wireless classroom, testing and accountability, e-learning communities, handheld communications technology, portable communications technology, and teacher preparation and professional development.

The magazine's electronic newsletters cover the latest issues and uses of technology for education. "T.H.E.'s Newsletter" is a weekly bulletin comprised of recent announcements that affect the education community. "T.H.E. Focus" is a bi-weekly interactive online newsletter that examines a specific area of educational technology through articles written by technology experts. "The EduHound Weekly" newsletter covers tips on using the Internet in education and special topics with activities and links. Other acquired assets include the magazine's web site, the Educational Technology Information Center (EdTechlnfoCenter.com), an online source for hardware and software reviews, TheConferencePlanner.com, and T.H.E. Institute, an ETC division that offers professional development services including accredited online courses for educators at all levels, as well as consulting services for companies in the education technology market.
