John Wiley & Sons has acquired a list of business and modern language text books and learning materials from Cengage Learning

John Wiley & Sons (Hoboken, NJ) has acquired a list of business and modern language text books and learning materials from Cengage Learning (Florence, KY). No terms were given. Cengage agreed to divest the assets in connection with the Justice Department's review of its recent acquisition of the Houghton Mifflin College division.

In related news, Wiley has entered into three partnerships to publish or co-publish existing journals. Wiley has entered into an agreement to serve as co-publisher of AlphMed Press' (Durham, NC) "Stem Cells," effective in January, 2009. It is published six times a year to carry basic laboratory investigations of stem cells and the trait nslation to patient care. Wiley has also agreed to publish "The Laryngoscope," a monthly journal, on behalf of The Triological Society (New York). It features medical, clinical and research information in otolaryngology, communicative disorders, head and enck surgery, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, oncology and speech and hearing defects. Finally, Wiley has been selected by The Protein Society (Bethesda, MD) to publish "Protein Science," a monthly journal covering advances relating to the chemical, biophysical, and recombinant determination of protein structure.
