Manisses Comm. completes sale of publishing assets

Business Publisher, Sept 16, 2005

Frasser and Betty Rawls Lang, the owners of Manisses Communications (Providence, RI), have sold the last company assets, including "Addition Professional" and "Behavioral Healthcare Tomorrow" magazines, to Vendome Group division Medquest Communications (Cleveland, OH). No terms of the deal were given.

"Addiction Professional" is the magazine of innovations and trends in the clinical care of persons with substance use and dependence disorders. Our readers include front-line clinicians in the addiction field, addiction medicine specialists, treatment and prevention program administrators, and others involved in the provision of high-quality addiction care.

Manisses said the mission of "Addiction Professional" is to disseminate information about what works in treatment and to assist the effort to translate that information to real-world practice. Launched in 2003, "Addiction Professional" is published six times a year for 26,600 addiction field professionals who either provide direct service to patients or supervise those who do., including clinicians, senior managers, nurses, social workers, program directors, researchers, and criminal justice professionals. It carries information on the latest trends in services for people with alcohol and drug use disorders and covers clinical topics in addiction treatment and prevention.

"Behavioral Healthcare Tomorrow," also published six times a year and has a controlled circulation of 23,000 behavioral healthcare professionals, including ceo's, medical/clinical directors, psychiatrists, private and public-sector delivery system managers, EAP benefits administrators and counseling professionals, is the magazine of issues, ideas and trends in mental health and addiction management and services. Editorial covers issues, ideas, and trends in mental health and addiction management and practice with information on policy, management and clinical topics in mental health and addiction. Scope of coverage involves both management and clinical professionals in both the mental health and addiction fields.

Earlier this year, the company sold its seven newsletters for behavioral health professionals to John Wiley & Sons. The newsletter titles included "Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Weekly," "Brown University Child and Adolescent Behavior Letter," "Brown University Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology Update," "Brown University Digest of Addiction Theory and Application," "Brown University Geriatric Psychopharmacology Update," "Brown University Psychopharmacology Update" and "Mental Health Weekly." Medquest also punishes "Healthcare Design," "Behavioral Health & Management," ENT Journal" and "Nursing Homes Long-Term Care Management" magazines.
