Intertec Publishing Acquires Assets From Adams Media In Two Deals

Business Publisher, Oct 31, 2000

Intertec Publishing (Overland Park, KS), a division of Primedia (New York), has acquired six business travel magazines and a related Web site from Adams Business Media (Cathedral City, CA). Earlier this month, Intertec also purchased three electronic equipment titles, a related trade show and three related Web sites from Adams Business. No terms for either deal were revealed.

In a deal completed at the beginning of the month, Intertec acquired Power Convers ion & Intelligent Motion, Power Quality Assurance, and PowerValue magazines, the "PowerSystems World" trade show and four related Web sites from Adams' Power Group (Ventura, CA). The magazines will join Intertec's Electrical & Public Services and its Communications divisions, the trade show will become a part of the Exhibitions division and the Web sites will be part of IndustryClick, Primedia's Internet operating unit. Intertec president/ceo Cameron Bishop said the deal "offers great synergistic opportunities with our existing titles, including EC&M, CEE News, Utility Business and Transmission & Distribution World."

On October 30, Intertec acquired six business travel magazines and three Web sites from Adams' Meeting Group (Maynard, MA). Targeted to executives, meeting planners and association management, the magazines include Corporate Meetings & Incentives, Association Meetings, Medical Meetings, Technology Meetings, Insurance Conference Planner and Religious Conference Manager, as well as the Meetingsnet.com Web site.

Bishop said the titles are "a great fit for our marketing division," including Promo, Direct and Special Events magazines (Stamford, CT).
