IDG.net, a unit of International Data Group (Boston, MA), has launched "Web Solutions World" (websolutionsworld.com), a global, customized information network targeted to Web developers and senior IT professionals. In addition, Standard Media International (San Francisco, CA), also a unit of IDG, has begun the publication of Industry Standard International.

IDG said "Web Solutions World" will feature non-biased, third-party information on evolving Web solutions, regulatory issues and Internet culture. It includes aggregated daily content from all 270 of IDG.net's Web sites and IDG's stable of publications, including CIO, ComputerWorld, InfoWorld, Network World Fusion, Industry Standard, PC World and ITworld.com. News is organized into five main channels: Top News, Connectivity, e-Commerce, Applications and Systems.

In related news, IDG unit Standard Media International (SMI) has launched Industry Standard Europe (London). The English-language weekly newsmagazine, with an accompanying Web site, will offer business intelligence and analysis on Europe's Internet economy. SMI has already launched editions of the magazine for Switzerland, Norway and Australia and plans for further launches throughout Europe in 2001.

SMI chairman/president John Battelle said "we plan to provide the European market with this English-language publication based in the U.K., along with strong publications in each European country.
