CMP Media (Manhasset, NY) has acquired Black Hat, Inc. (Seattle, WA), a producer of information security conferences and training that includes Black Hat Briefings and Conferences. No terms of the deal were given. Black hat was represented in the deal by Jordan, Edmiston Group (New York).

Black Hat was launched in 1997 by founder Jeff Moss to provide advanced education to security professionals within global corporations and federal agencies. The company now offers briefings as well as customized training and consulting services to provide knowledge about emerging security trends, vulnerabilities, defense mechanisms and industry trends. The company hosts annual training and briefing events in Singapore, Tokyo, Amsterdam and Las Vegas.

Moss will continue to run Black Hat. CMP said that "combining CMP's current portfolio of Computer Security Institute (CSI), 'Secure Enterprise' magazine and the Security Pipeline website with Black Hat will position CMP as the strongest platform in the computer security media market."
