Tel-Drug Inc., the online pharmacy operated by Cigna Healthcare, Bloomfield, Conn., has been certified as a Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Site by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.
The certification process is not a regulatory program, but rather a voluntary program for Internet sites to help members feel safer and more comfortable using online pharmacies. Certification entails completion of a 17-point application and review process that includes an on-site inspection.
Including Tel-Drug, six pharmacies have been certified.
Cigna has 7.2 million members covered by its pharmacy program.
