Volunteers sought to work on woodworking skill standards.(CLIPPINGS)(Architectural Woodwork Institute )(Brief article)
Forest Products Journal, April, 2008
The Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) continues to look for volunteers to work on the development of a North American Standard of Tool Skills & Evaluations. AWI is coordinating the industrywide effort to prepare the set of defined, observable, and measurable skills related to all areas of advanced woodworking, from furniture and cabinetmaking to home building, and flooring and pallet manufacturing.
AWI hopes to have a sample book ready for the International Woodworking Fair in Atlanta this August. Persons wishing to participate in the project can contact Greg Heuer at AWI for more information (gheuer@awinet.org). Some 60 industry organizations are supporting the effort.
