Kao reports limited growth in first half. (Kao Corporation)

The major Japanese household products, cosmetics and toiletries group, Kao Corporation, produced modest increases in sales and profits in the first half ended 30th September 1991. Net sales in the first six months of Kao's 86th fiscal year rose by 3.6 per cent from 278.4 billion yen to 288.5 billion yen ($2,171 million). Pre-tax profits increased to 19.9 billion yen ($149 million) from 19 billion yen, a rise of 4.5 per cent, while net income improved by 3 per cent from 10.8 billion yen to 11.1 billion yen ($83.3 million).
