Record results for Colgate-Palmolive but unit volume is flat.

Colgate-Palmolive Co achieved record net income and gross profit margins for the 2nd qtr of FY 1993/94. This reflects the consumer products group's continued focus on improving efficiencies, streamlining management and manufacturing, and orienting its product mix towards high profit margin items. Colgate-Palmolive's highest growth area is the oral and personal care segment, where sales were up 18% and 46%, respectively. The company has a truly global management perspective and virtually dominates the market in South America and Asia. Eastern Europe has become very important to the company, also.
