Beijing duty free fair shows Chinese development but cosmetics sector is still small.(Salon Duty Free Exhibition, Beijing, China)

In China, duty free has become a booming business that, unfortunately, has not strongly promoted cosmetics sales. The newly-opened nine duty free centers have increased the number of duty free zones to 96, including airports, duty free shops and maritime ports. The percentage of alcoholic beverages sold by duty free centers reached 40%, tobacco products 30%, and cosmetics, perfumes, jewelry and luxuries 30%. The Salon Duty Free Exhibition provided its participants with valuable information on the selective distribution process in the duty free market.

For the second time running the Salon Duty Free Exhibition has been held in Beijing. Organised jointly by The Chinese National and International Trade publications, the exhibition took place on the 17-19 May 1995.
