Shamrock Holdings Inc. is pressuring Helene Curtis Industries Inc. to consider restructuring its stock or divesting its operations. Shamrock Holdings, established by Walt Disney Corporation Vice Chmn Ray Disney, owns 7.6% of Helen Curtis' common stock. Disney believes that the premium of existing shares would rise substantially following the sale of Helene Curtis. The company reported a decrease in sales for third quarter 1995 from $282 mil to $267 mil and a loss of $7.2 mil in third quarter 1995 compared to earnings of $3.4 mil for third quarter 1994.
The board of Helene Curtis Industries Inc., is continuing to have discussions with several parties who have expressed an interest in a possible business combination, according to a recent press statement.
