* Chinese-made hair care products are lagging behind imported equivalents on the Chinese market, suggests the Xinhua news agency. China's shampoo market is now dominated by Rejoice, Pantene and Sassoon brands, amongst others, whilst imported hair dyes are also preferred to domestic brands for their sharper and more distinct colours, says the report.

* Johnson & Johnson has announced its fourth quarter sales 2000 were up 3.4% to $7.1bn. Its worldwide sales for the year were $29.1bn, up 6.1% over the previous year. The company attributed this to continued strength in its skincare franchise, which includes the Neutrogena, RoC, Aveeno and Clean & Clear lines, as well as from its Johnson's line of baby skin products.
