Job losses as P&G integrates its Clairol acquisition. (International News).(Brief Article)(Statistical Data Included)

Procter & Gamble is to close its Clairol manufacturing facilities in Lima, Peru; Maracay, Venezuela and Cramlington, UK, as part of its integration of the brand's global manufacturing operations into its global beauty care business unit. It will also close its distribution centre in Edison, US. The company will maintain Clairol hair colour manufacturing operations in Stamford, US, in Mexico and in Australia.

Rob Matteucci, vp, global color/professional products said, "These plans are the result of strong teamwork by P&G and Clairol people in the course of a comprehensive 90-day sourcing study to ensure we fully leverage the combined strengths of the two companies in hair colours and hair care."

The company says only 800 of the 1,550 people affected...
