Gillette & Schick ready for battle.(International News)(patent infringement)(Brief Article)

The rivalry between Gillette and Schick has intensified, with Gillette accusing Schick of patent infringement in the design of its Quattro razor.

Gillette has filed a suit against Energizer Holdings, parent company of Schick, claiming that the Quattro violates a Mach3 shaving system technology patent. The Quattro is due to launch this month, but Gillette is calling for damages and an injunction to prevent Schick from launching the product.

The suit centres on a claim that Energizer has incorporated the Mach3 system's 'progressive blade geometry technology'. This technology positions the blades to gradually extend closer to the beard, allowing for a closer shave.
