Johnsen & Jorgensen has developed a new PET formulation which is said to be the closest a non-glass material can get to the real thing.

With the look and feel of glass, Glass-like PET is safer for personal care products used in the bathroom as it is shatterproof, says the company. Lighter than glass, it will also help save on freight costs.

The advanced formulation comes at a marginal increase in unit cost, said Johnsen & Jorgensen sales director Jon Wear. He hopes it will attract interest from marketers of upmarket personal care and toiletries products, where the quality of packaging plays a crucial role in promoting the image of the contents.
