Chanel basks in Kidman's limelight.(International News)(Nicole Kidman )(Brief Article)

The much hyped new Chanel No 5 advertising campaign starring Nicole Kidman and directed by Baz Luhrmann received its first US television airing on 11 November on NBC during an episode of ER. Aversion of the three minute mini-movie, shot in the style of blockbuster Moulin Rouge, is now showing at cinemas in the US and overseas. Print ads are also breaking.
"Chanel is just the latest and most dramatic example of a trend toward alternative marketing that started with luxury's courting of the celebrity spokesperson," said the UK's Financial Times.
More than just promoting No 5, Kidman's involvement in the campaign is an attention-grabber for Chanel's entire beauty business, which will add new colour cosmetics, skin care and fragrance products to its line-up in early 2005.
