Unilever--yet another private equity target?(FINANCIAL NEWS)

The private equity talk isn't just stopping at Alliance-Boots. According to City analysts, consumer goods giant Unilever could also be in the frame of the private equity hawks.
Last week Unilever's share price rose on market chatter of a takeover bid. 'All bets are now off," said Graham Neale, head of equities at Killik Stockbrokers. "There's a lot of speculation going on out there and Unilever could be a target." Neale points to the recent announcement by Cadbury Schweppes that it will split its confectionery and soft drinks business. In other words, despite its size, Unilever could be next for a private equity bid.
Unilever recently launched a buy-back programme worth up to 1.5bn [euro]. The maker of Dove and Sunsilk also recently got a re-rating...
